Assignment 2 - Photographing the Unseen - reflection

My tutor’s comments on my subject choice were positive and showed an appreciation of the fact that I had aimed to show balance in terms of the physical, mental and aesthetic. She felt that my images were well balanced in composition and colour, however the last image was brought into question.

My tutor felt that this image itself appeared unbalanced and also threw the set off as it brought up more of a narrative context. I had not considered this while putting the images together; it just felt like a good final image. The other images however do not create a narrative so I feel that it would benefit my set to omit this image. It has also been pointed out that three of the images have a very similar composition; I will consider which two would be best to keep in the set.

Although my images are focussed more successfully than in my last assignment, my tutor has pointed out some images in which the focusing could have been used differently. I aim to work towards taking more time to think about where I would like the image to be in future images. More successful images with regards to focus were close up shots of hands.

Although I did not include contact sheets for this assignment, I intend to revisit my selection to get together a more cohesive set.
